All substances that are ingested are food. They are taken orally and it enters the vital parts of a man where it is processed into energy. It is force that keeps a man breathing. Plants that can be eaten as well as beasts serve as nourishment for a human being.

Man first look for food by going into the forests and hunting animals whose meat can feed the family. Somewhere along the way man was able to tame some of them and kept them near their homes. Plants slowly entered into the picture by experimental eating. Soon enough the eatable ones were planted in many numbers. Early man did this on the fertile soil bordering rivers.

As the population grew the need to produce more food became paramount. Large tracts of forests were converted into agricultural plots where wheat grains were planted. Planting and harvesting methods were improved for more harvests. Science discovered in developing farm animals that had more meat, poultry that lay more eggs.

People ingest a lot of foodstuffs in all geographical locations. Looking into the past, most nutrients came from plants and creatures that are native to the place. Through the ages people moved around and this brought about changes in the way people eat. Things that could not be grown in a one place can now be grown in others. The development in mode of transferring goods and services has also hastened the exchanges.

Food preparation differs from one country to another. Recipes comprise a wide array of ingredient. Man has the unique talent of taste differentiation. The sweet, the bitter, the salty, the sour and other improvement can easily be recognized. Nutrient preparation can be designed just to engage the taste buds. This is so true with exotic dining.

American cooking is heavily influenced by European cookery because most have ancestor that came from Europe. It also has an African side to it as the colored population mostly came from Africa. European menu is heavy on bread, grape wines, sausages, milk and milk products, and pasta to name a few. Africans like wheat grains, fruit, and vegetables. Asian cooking use a variety of spices and are most often stir fried. Rice is the staple of most Asians.

Human population is multiplying by the thousands and this adds to the burden that nature is already carrying. Large swaths of timberland are gone forever taken over by big cereal tracts. The seas are producing less bounty. The livestock industry though is thriving and numbers have gone up dramatically, the sad part is that as result more waste is accumulated. Man needs to conserve what nature has given.

The scent of delightful cuisine is wonderful. Man wants to have the best that life has to offer. Food is one of them. The tastiest foods are in Asia. Travelers from the entire world go Asia to experience nourishment. Eat and be merry for tomorrow you may die.
