This clear drink is considered popular in many areas of the world, especially India, Caribbean, Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, Brazilian Coast, Africa and the tropics. These areas are where the drink can be easily found fresh, canned or bottled. There are different variations of this available today and so people might be looking for the best tasting coconut water.

The best kind is subjective. It is a matter of personal preference and taste of a person consuming it. Coconuts used for drinking purposes are usually available packaged, served chilled or fresh at most restaurants and stores. There are street vendors who also sell these fresh, cutting the fruit open in front of customers using a machete or other knife. The drink might also be sold in plastic bottles, cans and tetra packs. When bottled, it is believed to be good for approximately 24 months.

In recent times, this product has been advertised as being a natural sports or energy drink because of its high potassium and mineral components. Marketers have also touted its low fat, calories and carbs. Still, some claims about the health benefits associated with the drink have not been proven to be fact.

Naturally this has a nutty, sweet taste. It features carbohydrates that are easily digestible. The water is at the fruit's center and tapped from green coconuts. It is different than coconut milk that is high in fat.

Generally, it is believed to include more potassium and less sodium than sports drinks that are sold today. Many manufacturers add extra ingredients to this, which actually makes it less beneficial to consume. In fact, there are some drinks containing more sugar than recommended and that are not healthy. Those who like drinks sweet might not find this to be satisfying enough. Still, this and water are known to be ideal for quenching thirst and giving the various organs the water they need. To some people, the best tasting ones are that which include extra sugar and flavors. Others may consider the best to be that which is fresh from the coconut and includes nothing but the natural water.

Every person will have his or her preference when it comes to the drink. Still, many professionals in the health field encourage people to drink this in the form that is closest to what is found in nature. This is important for reaping all benefits.

Those who do not enjoy coconuts might prefer not to have this drink, even though many say that it does not carry the same flavor as the fruit's meat. This can be diluted with water or mixed with fresh vegetables to make the taste subtle and change flavor. There are many options for making this drink more tasty that do not include using sugar or chemicals, which are known to be hard on the human body.
