Establishing The Merits And Demerits Of Bottling And Kegging

By George Baker

All home brewers may end up meditating on the best way of packaging their beer from the process of fermentation to the point of consuming their drink. There is confusion among many, especially the new brewers since they are unable to understand the potential advantages and disadvantages that are associated with both bottling and kegging.

If we are to bring all the beer makers together and ask them the best method of storage, we will not get anywhere with the discussion. No one will want their means to be turned down since they believe in it. Firms that make beer use different methods showing that both are applicable. A new brewer may get mixed up in this confusion, yet both approaches are good but not perfect.

For you to make that tasty beer that you yearn for, then be ready to take your time and come up with an uninfluenced judgment on which means take. Kegs are attributed to clear beer since they have ample space where the yeast can easily settle. They also face little disturbance as one gets beer from them. Bottles are affected by movements hence the yeast appears to be floating in your drink.

Being a home brewer you may wish to have a simple job in the preparation of your drink. Bottling will never need sophisticated equipment of work. In fact, it can be done directly from the main fermenter . Kegs will force you to have the gas cylinders, the O-rings, faucets and many other items. To make it worse is that you must have the know- how skills of dealing with such.

No individual will want to spend an entire day making beer. This is why all time conscious Brewers will go for kegs since you just deal with a limited number of cylinder dealing with bottles where you have to deal with bottles one by one ensuring that you have well enclosed it with the cup after filling it.

There is the point where one to take charge of the carbon dioxide given out during the fermentation process. This will never be possible if one uses bottles. Cylinders give one a freedom of managing the amount of carbonation that takes place. There is some barrel used which have automatic systems that will take control of the carbonation.

Portability is one thing that makes the cylinders be off the mark. They are heavy compared to bottles. More so, most fridges at home do not have enough space for one to put their cylinders. With bottles, you can be picking and place them in the refrigerator.

Much of the beer will end up getting wasted if one uses the kegs. Overflowing of the drink while one forgets to close the tap and faulty valves are avenues for beer wastage. With bottles it, you only have to pick one finish with go for another, simple!

It is now clear that neither of the two is good or bad. It is upon an individual to settle down and see what they want to come in hand with their drink. Clearness, time, portability or even taste will determine which method to use.
