Types And Purposes Of Pit BBQ Grills

When digging up holes in the ground and structure it with metal, bricks, or stones, you are making a fire pit. The purpose of having is to hold fire but not letting it scatter. These are only required in order to be safe when containing a fire. These can be made by just simply digging up a hole and putting some bricks or rock pillars. The next variation is a square grill. The square is a composition of the brazier and kettle grill. Like brazier, this is a simple type and adjusting the heat is made simpler. Another one is hibachi, the traditional grill used by the Japanese people and which also means small cooking. It is made from aluminum or cast iron.

Sixth is the kettle and it is considered as one of the most commercially used grill until now. This is composed of lid, charcoal grid, cooking grid, venting system, lower chamber, and legs. Seventh is a cart type. Its form is very similar to a typical grill. It can be in a rectangular form or kettle design. This is consists of hinged lid, charcoal grid, and cooking grid which are mounted to a cart with wheels.

Eighth are barrels that are believed as the most primitive ones. These are made out from steel barrels that is half lengthwise. Ceramic cookers are the more versatile than kettles since it is more efficient when it comes to retaining heat. These are being utilized for barbecuing, grilling, and smoking foods.

Tandoor ovens involve both grilling and oven cooking. The food is being cooked and placed on long skewers and are heated by wood fire which is placed at the bottom of the oven. And lastly is the portable type which can either be be in a brazier or kettle category.

The hybrid type is commonly used for cooking outdoors. The fuels that can be used are either natural gas, charcoal, or propane. It is a combination of wood grill and charcoal techniques.
