Make Organic Vegan Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

By Stephen Howard

Finding organic and delicious sweets is not always easy thing to do. Most products contain different ingredients you just don't want to consume. And, when it comes to popular spreads, the things get worse. On the other hand, you could make your own delicious spread whenever you want, and this particular recipe is so simple you can try it today, with no special preparations.

All you need for this delicious treat is one good blender, the type you would normally use for smoothies. Of course, for this organic vegan nutella chocolate hazelnut spread the most important ingredients are organic hazelnuts. Good quality dairy free chocolate and some maple syrup or some dark molasses, and that's it.

Well, you could use some regular blender, but you will certainly get better results using good food processor or some smoothie maker. In any case, prepare four cups organic hazelnuts, two cups organic dark chocolate, dairy-free, naturally, and molasses, or some maple syrup. The spread will be creamier and tastier if you use molasses, by the way.

Nuts should be roasted first, to release the oils. For this purpose, preheat the oven on 175 degrees Celsius and roast them for ten to fifteen minutes, shaking the pan once or twice. Prepare kitchen towels and put warm roasted nuts on. Cover with another towel and roll with your hands to remove the skin. Use clean towels to repeat this.

Put the hazelnuts in your blender and process until they become kind of a paste, like a hazelnut butter. Now it is time to add melted dairy free chocolate. Taste the mixture and add some molasses or maple syrup to adapt it to your taste. Adding liquids will make your spread a little bit harder, but the taste will be great.

Some of you don't want to use dark chocolate in your recipes, and that's perfectly fine. In this case, you will need some organic cocoa instead. The spread might not be so creamy in this case, but you will still love it. Although you may add cocoa as it is, it's actually better to mix it with a small quantity of hot water first. It will make the whole thing creamier.

Adding molasses will enrich the taste, but it is also a good idea to add some vanilla extract as well. In any case. This mixture can be safely kept in the fridge for a few weeks or so. But, once you taste it, you will probably eat it much sooner. The bigger problem is not to eat it the very same day. Do not prepare while on any type of a diet.

As you can see, the recipe is extremely simple. It doesn't mean you cannot improve it. So, experiment with the tastes. For example, you may add more vanilla. Or you could use orange oil to spice it up. This is quite simple thing to do. Prepare fresh orange zest and squeeze a drop or two of fresh orange oil. Or you could spice the water for cocoa with some cloves or cinnamon. Just boil these spices for a few minutes and use this spiced water.
