Beers And How It Is Actually Made

By Melissa Carter

Beer enthusiasts knows that not all beer has the same taste and there always is a difference. Whether be it on the alcohol level which tends to hit a person way faster or can be based on the bitterness on its taste, it sure would not be of the same taste at all. The perfect combination to make the best beverage out of it would definitely always be based on grains used. If their quality is good enough then it normally would show on the finish product. Aside from that choosing the most suitable brewery grain mill may also be of help big time.

There are few people who would actually like to create their own flavor and try having enough knowledge about it. Well, there should be nothing stopping them to know the essential procedures because that may just be the break they are waiting for. To better help them with their goals and plans, here are the step by step and exact procedure they can initially start on.

It would all begin on the milling of grain where different types of malt are crushed all at the same time. This would break up the grain kernels which will create an extracted fermentable sugar. That would then be used to produce the milled product which is often referred to as the grist.

Once they have all the grist, they need to convert it into mash. They need a mash tun for this wherein the grist is placed so it will be heated for an appropriate amount of time with certain level of heat wherein the malt is broken down to sugars. There is a natural enzymes found on malts that allows this reaction to happen.

Then those mash will later be pumped into a lauter tun. This is where a sweet liquid gets to be secreted out of the mixture. It basically is known as the wort.

The wort will then be boiled in a much controlled manner. They do that by placing it in a huge vessel named kettle. The hops will be added on this same process which is why they have to really control the heat to an appropriate and suitable level.

Once the boiling is done, everything will apparently be transferred to a whirlpool for the separation. Those malt and hop in the mixture will be removed so that there will be no more particles floating over. And once the liquid is all set, it will then be prepared for the fermentation.

Once the liquid is considered clear enough, fermentation takes place. They do it by adding a yeast into the wort which removes its sugary texture and converts it into a beer. This basically is where the introduction of alcohol takes place along with the adding of secret flavors and ingredients that could enhance its taste. By the later part of which, sparkle is added by putting a certain amount of carbon dioxide to it.

Once done, the procedure has almost come to an end as maturation will then follow. This is where the beer has to reach certain maturity or full development of flavors which would be equated to a smooth taste finish. And once that specific stage is done, the beer is already ready for the cellaring process that usually takes about four weeks the maximum. And right after that, all is set and the beer is ready for either packaging or consumption.
