But just because you want to take a bite of something does not mean that you have to go out at all times.

Among the most popular and nutritions one are the pumpkins. If before they only have limited variations in them, now the fresh pumpkin recipes have been spreading online like wildfire. Not only are they limited to main courses. This time, it has even found its way to our desserts and appetizers. If you want to try one, you need to be aware of some things that will make your meal a great experience.

First, you need to understand that not all pumpkins are the same. They have different qualities and can taste differently. It is recommended that you buy those which are firm and free from cuts and bruises. This will ensure that it has not incurred any damage that may affect the quality of its taste later on.

Then, also take note of the days when you want it stored. You can buy in advance and then store it for some time before cooking it up. Just place it somewhere that is dry and cool. High temperature can potentially damage the quality. To avoid any over storage, it is recommended to buy few days before you need it.

You have several options on how to go about with the cooking. You can either bake it, which are prepared by those who love baking, boil, or follow the microwave method. It depends on which process is more convenient for you.

If you bake it, you need to preheat the oven into 375 degrees F. Cut the pumpkin in half and discard its stems. You can stash away the seeds so you can roast them later when they dried. Put the two halves face down on a shallow dish and cover them with foil. Then, place them inside the over for about an hour and a half until it becomes tender. Once it has cooled down, you may already scoop out its flesh.

For the boiling method, start by cutting the pumpkin into half. Next, peel then cut them to chunks. Get a saucepan where you place the chunks. After that, pour with water so that it covers the chunks. Then, start boiling. Once tender, allow it to cool. Proceed by mashing it with the use of potato masher.

Same goes for microwave method. You cut it into half and remove the insides. Then, under high power, microwave it for about seven minutes. Adjust the position of the halves to cook it evenly. Allow it to cool down. After that, mash it. The good thing about this is you can place it on the fridge for 3 days or in the freezer for 6 months if you plan on using it later.

These methods are just the beginning. There are newer recipes developed today to accomodate the demand. This holiday seasons, try out something new with these delicious pumpkins and enjoy your Christmas.
