By Claudine Hodges

In 475 BC Anaxagoras argued that the food there are principles which are absorbed by human body and used as components "generative" (a first intuition of existence of nutrients). In 400 BC Hippocrates said. In 1747 the English physician James Lind conducted the first experiment of Nutrition, found that lemon juice was able to cure scurvy. Only in 1930s it was discovered that this property was due to vitamin C in lemons (best cooking sheet).

In parallel, private organizations have created trademarks or distinctive signs (Max Havelaar Product of year, etc.) These commercial signs are not controlled by any independent body. In most countries there is a specific food law. This is a body that includes laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to foodstuffs in general and safety in particular, at Community or national level in Europe. It covers all stages of production, processing and distribution of food and also feed for or given to food-producing animals.

Here will be used in various metabolic processes: energy production, construction and repair of tissues, regulation of cellular activities, production of hormones, antibodies, enzymes, and everything that contributes to incessant work biochemical necessary to maintenance of life.

Fruit is in botanical sense proliferation device with flowering plants. Many plants have developed fruits which are important nutritional sources for humans and animals. When animals eat the fruit, they also contribute to spread the seeds. Fruits form a substantial part of content of diet in most cultures. Animals make as a direct food source by meat, internal organs or blood is used for human consumption. A few animals are also used as indirect food sources, for example for the production of milk (goats, cows, sheep, and camels), and eggs (chickens, ducks and geese).

Foods originate from all over the world and not natural: animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, inorganic compounds, synthetic foods. Some types of edible fungi and bacteria are used both as food themselves, and in preparation of fermented foods like bread and marinated, wine, beer, cheese, pickles and yogurt. The algae in many cultures, especially the eastern, represent an important food.

From food the body extracts the useful substances to its metabolism. Are the nutrients, all or in part, depending on organism in question, essential to life. Cereal products; by end of Neolithic period onwards most energy intake of most of human population is a source of starchy. Cereals and other products of land rich in carbohydrates are variously processed to derive nourishment.

There are about 2,000 species of plants that are grown for feeding. Most of all plant foods consumed by humans, for the fact of serving as a reserve for the development of plant are the same seeds. These include cereals (corn, wheat and rice) and legumes (beans, peas and lentils). Some seeds are often used, squeezing, to produce oils, including sunflower, canola and sesame. Fruits are a product matured provided by some plants. The fruits attract animals and make up a significant part of diets of most cultures. Can help provide significant energy contribution to wealth of carbohydrates (banana, plantain). Certain fruits, like pumpkin and eggplant, are used and eaten as vegetables.

Even animals, from cnidarians such as jellyfish, mammals, passing insects, molluscs and crustaceans, vertebrates, all are used as human food. Meat is an example of product made from muscle tissue or organs. Milk, cheese, butter, hand, constitute an example of animal products: birds, fish, and many other animals produce eggs, often edible, while the bees produce honey, a sweetener, popular in many cultures.
