In fact, they think that the supplies they buy at the grocery stores and markets are usually good. What appears good may not be really good. Studies indicate that fruits and vegetables slowly lose their minerals and vitamins as they age. When you go to the supermarket and local stores to buy veggies, you can never be sure when they were supplied. Since most of the stores keep them in open refrigerators, they will always look fresh. However, if they have overstayed, you will only get a raw deal as they will have very little minerals and vitamins.

It is, even more, difficult telling how fresh produce looks like. Since most people do not grow fruits and vegetables, they may not know whether what they are buying is actually fresh. In agribusiness, crops are prepared for the long journey to the market through hybridization. This process is meant to keep the foods durable during transportation since they come from far. They also help in boosting shelf life.

Local stores and supermarkets love hybridized produce. Such produce can last even for three months without going bad. Just imagine buying an apple or stone fruit that has been on the shelves for three months. It will still look fresh to you because of refrigeration. However, it will have very little nutritional value to your body. Yet again, the produce is harvested prematurely to ensure they do not spoil during transportation.

It is said that only the strongest survive in the jungle. This explains why you will find many plant species surviving there without anyone necessarily looking after them. If you find fruits and vegetables directly from such a jungle, you can be sure you are eating the right meal. It will be full in nutrients that will enrich your body. In addition, they are void of any chemical additives.

You do not have to maintain a forest for you to enjoy such diets. In many countries, for instance, you will find people collecting food that grow near their homes without necessarily planting. You can make it your habit to go into the jungle once in a while and collect these edibles. However, before you do this, you must equip yourself with enough information so as not to pick poisonous plants.

Eating fresh and natural produce is fundamental to your health. If you cannot buy them at the local store, consider eating in restaurants that offer the diets. Stay healthy at all costs.
