Six Insanely Exciting Things To Do In Sault Ste Marie

By Paul Wood

The regions that lie close to the Great Lakes in Canada are rife with tourist activity all through the year. Many visit to spend time in the local recreational areas as they explore the flora and fauna. If you plan to go on tour soon, the following are some of the exciting things to do in Sault Ste Marie.

The local weather has a tendency to change without warning. With weather variations so common, the local tour companies have crafted different types of adventure packages to go with the climate. Even then, it is always advisable to carry warm clothes as you never know when temperatures will get nasty.

One highly practiced outdoor sport is rock climbing. Adventure groups usually schedule visits to the popular ice and rock structures close by. Summer is a great time to go rock climbing while winter is favorable for ice climbing.

Biking is a great activity to participate in as well. A popular dirt park is available for all your biking needs. It is often filled with bikers eager to improve their skills. You only need a few hours to be able to master the correct bike handling techniques. The administrators open the park from May and throughout summer.

If you love fishing, the St. Marys River Rapids should be your next stop. The river comes out of Lake Superior and drains its waters in Lake Huron. The fish tend to love the fast flowing waters of the rapids. Some of the species that are abundant in the water include Chinook, Atlantic salmon, pink salmon, steelhead, brown trout, whitefish and rainbow trout. You may come with your own gear or hire it on site.

The Agawa Canyon Tour Train is also often highly sought after. The train snakes past breathtaking landscapes as it heads north away from the city. Awe inspiring rivers and lakes dot the surrounding landscape, with the Agawa Canyon being the final stop on the tour.

The stop time at the canyon is usually two hours, which is just enough time to check out the fantastic surroundings. A lookout platform lies 250 feet above the train tracks. The pristine nature of the location is further complemented by four majestic waterfalls.

Those who love swimming would do well with some scuba diving. You can get all the training you need to dive comfortably at the nearby Sault Scuba Center. There is a whole new world to explore below the water, and you should be a part of it.

A visit to the Runway Park should cap your tour. Here, you get to learn different racing techniques using rally cars, ATVs and bikes. The site owners have also built a bathroom facility, canteen and campground onsite. Without a doubt, this should be your go to place for that weekend family camping trip you have always thought about.

Ensure you establish your budget needs beforehand. It is always a good idea to travel with extra money to meet potential shortfall. Some sites do not accept credit cards, so this is something to bear in mind too.
