The dumpling filled with vegetables is called Kwa Pao. These dumplings are also served with their own condiments and sauces which add to their flavor.

An authentic restaurant serving these kinds of food will always make sure that they are served piping hot, whether it be siomai, siopao or any other kinds of dim sum such as chicken feet or even spare ribs amongst others. Always insist that these be served very hot off the oven or steamer.

To really definitely gauge the authenticity of the food that you are eating, do take a look at the clientele. If the customers are mostly Chinese or oriental descent, then you can be sure that they are the best judges of the food, and this will save a lot of time on your part on how to judge what is served.
