Information Concerning Pier Seafood On Beach Redondo

By Sharron Cantu

Sea water is a major supplier of nutritious food for human consumption. Pier seafood is found in large quantities on the Redondo Beach in CA. Several varieties of animal and plant species are classified under seafood. Seafood includes different forms of animals and plants which provide a lot of nutritional nutrients to human bodies. Animals under seafood are shellfish and fish. Mammals are being eliminated from this category because their consumption is highly reducing around the globe.

Depending on migratory behavior and section of the sea a fish inhabits, fishes can be classified into several groups. The main groups are marine pelagic, diadromous, freshwater fishes, and marine demersal. All fish species that live near the sea surface and get their food supplies from there are called marine pelagic. There are larger species found in this group including tuna, salmon, marlin, shark, and swordfish. On the other hand, the small species include sprats, menhaden, herring, and sardines.

Fishes that occupy ocean beds are referred to as demersal fish. Their food sources which are made up mostly of crustaceans are found at the bed of oceans. Because they do not need strong muscles for swimming, their flesh is normally whiter than that of marine pelagic. Flatfish, stingrays, grouper, and cod are the key examples.

Fishe species that alternate habitats between fresh and sea water masses are called diadromous fish. They can live in fresh and salty waters. Examples of organisms include eels, salmon, lampreys, and shad. Lastly, like the name suggests, freshwater fishes inhabit lakes, rivers, ponds, and other bodies with fresh water. Examples are trout, tilapia, carp, and catfish. They are mostly reared on farms. Infact, they contribute to the largest portion of freshwater fishes in USA.

Shellfish on the other hand comprises of crustaceans, echinoderms, and molluscs. Molluscs lack hard protective structures found in crustaceans and their bodies are not segmented. They only have calcareous shells which protect them. The shell grows as the organism grows. This category has bivalves, gastropods, and cephalopods as main subgroups. Cephalopods lack protective shells.

Crustaceans have a protective shell made of chitin. The shell turns color to red or pink when cooked. They are found at different levels in the water ranging from the surface to the bottom of the ocean. Many organisms are found in this sub-group including shrimps, crabs, lobsters, and krill. There are many different species of each of the organisms named above.

Broiling, frying, grilling, smoking, steaming, baking, and roasting are some of the preparation methods one can use. If preparation instructions are followed carefully, one can make very delicious meals through the methods. Seafood can be eaten alone or together with vegetables, fruits, or other foods.

To prevent cross-contamination from happening, all raw foods must be kept away from cooked ones. In case of cross-contamination, proper disposal of the food should be done. Alternatively, the contaminated foods may be fed to animals that are not affected by the contamination. Proper washing of hands should be done after and before handling the organisms.
