The Right Reusable Food Pouch

By Rosella Campbell

One of the great things about making dishes at home is that you know where it comes from. The problem comes when you are out in the street and fancy a snack or you have kids that are low on energy and need something to keep them going until dinner time. Fortunately with a reusable food pouch it is possible to preserve something you have made yourself and enjoy it on the go.

Commonly people associate using this type of pouch with babies. This is because feeding a baby is crucial. This is the time when they are growing up and there is often the concern that they may not necessarily get the appropriate nutrients they need from mass produced items available in the supermarket.

One reason pouches are a good option is the additional control they allow. There is often a concern about the amount of additives and other unsuitable ingredients in some baby foods. Even some that are labelled as healthy or low fat may bulk up with ingredients that are high in sugar and it can take a while before finding a product that meets your needs that is within your price range.

The fact that these can be reused is important as well. With disposable cups, packaging and so forth a lot of resources are used both in terms of transporting goods to people and ensuring they are kept in one piece. If you do not buy as much then you reduce the amount produced and this in turn is better for the environment.

This can also save time in the long term. While preparing food yourself can take a bit of time if you do a larger amount in batches you can freeze them and then defrost over the course of a week. The other benefit of this is that you do not need to go shopping for food as much and this can make it easier to control your spending.

Admittedly using a pouch instead of buying jars is not totally mess proof. It is recommended that if you are transporting them then it is best to keep them in a plastic bag. This is because they can leak if too much pressure is applied to them. However if stored properly then you should be able to transport them without too many issues.

Pouches are not just for baby food either! For example if you have problems getting sauce from a glass bottle then you ought to try pouring it into a pouch. You can equally do this for yoghurt, juices or cordials. Indeed most companies should have suggestions on ways you can use their products so that you can get some ideas before you purchase them.

The simplest way to find websites and products is to do a search online using your normal search engine. This will allow you to find out what the pouches can be used for and whether or not they are appropriate to your particular needs. You can also check for product reviews and feedback through forums and social media so you can compare the options available to you and choose the best one for you.
