It's Not Just Easy Lentil Soup That You Can Make

High in all the B vitamins, and many minerals such as iron and more, lentils make a most nutritional part of a person's diet. Many consider it almost perfect, due to the nutritional it provides. In addition, it is very low-cost for those on a tight budget. Nutritionists believe it can hardly be beat. It is not just for an easy lentil soup, either. Lentils can be used in many ways.

With the range of ingredients that are compatible with lentils, it is easy to serve a family of 7 to 8 for less than 10 dollars. It is possible to meet many different tastes by choosing ingredients that are liked by all family members. Just pick everyone's favorite and vary the selection to meet all tastes.

There are a number of soups that can be made with lentils, as well. It can be spicy, bland, creamy and even cool and creamy. You can leave chunks of vegetables if desired, or make a clear soup. With all these varieties, it is easy to find something to please everyone.

Lentils are not just for soup. They are excellent in many other dishes as well. They are not to be avoided. They are full of fiber, protein, and valuable nutrients, and when combined with other ingredients, a good substitute for meats. This makes them especially economical as a protein source, which is good when you are on a tight budget.

Lentil bowls are an excellent way to make a pleasing meal for the family. Combine them in a significant serving with a variety of vegetables, as you desire, and toss with a dressing. The dressing can be varied according to family taste. You can even give you bowl an ethnic taste with certain ingredients. An egg, goat cheese, and some potatoes make it like a traditional breakfast bowl. Leave off the egg and cheese if you are vegan.

Top with Greek yogurt chipotle sauce, and other toppings as desired. A creamy avocado sauce gives less heat, but is just as creamy.

Lentils make a very beautiful salad as well. Add cooked lentils and fried Halloumi to a bowl of greens, such as spinach or arugula. This briny cheese made of goat and sheep milk is a wonderful, firm white cheese. Top with zucchini, sliced very thinly, and roasted heirloom tomatoes, sprinkle with a few micro-greens for a wonderfully healthy salad.

Shepherds pie makes a hearty holiday dish, and is possible to be made with lentils. Stir fry spicy lentils, some mushrooms, and other vegetables of your choice. This makes a hearty dish. On top, instead of mashed white potatoes, use mashed sweet potatoes with a bread crumb topping. Spice and flavor it to your taste. Experiment and use your creativity to make many dishes. Since they are so cheap, if you mess up and make something your family doesn't like, you haven't wasted much money.
