Which Are The Top Fats To Consume For A Healthy Diet

By Andy Thomson

What are healthy oils for my body? you might be wondering. Not all oil is exactly the same. Many are created as the result of chemical processes. So, if you've ever asked the question, 'what are healthy oils for my body', then the answer is generally that natural fats are probably the best. However, it's not always that simple as some oils are better uncooked and others are better when used in the cooking process.

Much of the oil people consume is the cheaper variety, the type that's the product of chemical procedures that were developed in the 1900s. Around this time, makers of oil were able to use chemical processes to extract the product. But these have been altered a lot in order to produce a product that can be used by the consumer.

Though it might seem a fantasy, healthy fats do exist. Thins like olive are great when consumed raw, such as in salads or when used to make mayo from home. The olives have not been altered by using a chemical process, they have been simply pressed and packed into a bottle.

Coconut oil has a large amount lauric acid and fatty acids. This is important because, contrary to what is often said, our bodies do require some saturated fat to keep our energy levels up. It's a natural oil that's extracted from the fruit, and, because it does not oxide so easily, is a good choice for a cooking oil. It's seen by some as one of the best fats you can use.

One thing that needs to be corrected is the role of meat in society. It has a bad reputation sometimes because of scandals and media coverage. The main problem is usually the way the animals are reared. Animals that are kept in a loving environment and cared for are less likely to end up diseased. Try eating animals that are free range and fed on things like grass.

One product that might surprise a few people as contained healthy fats is butter. As with anything, butter should not be consumed to excess. However, it has in it soluble fat vitamins which are said to be great for the body. It also has certain compounds which have been linked to increased nutrient absorption and disease prevention.

This may seem rather obvious, but when you're out in the supermarket, it's a good idea to try buying organic produce, especially if you buy a lot of dairy products. Things like cream and cheese have plenty of saturated fat but are normally healthier than the alternatives because they have not be chemically altered and processed.

So to those wondering what are healthy oils for my body? the answer lies in the way the fats are processes. It's usually commonsense to think that naturally occurring oil is healthier than something that has been altered using chemicals. To this end, things like fish have essential oils that are useful for the body, as does palm oil and avocado oil.
