Sault Ste. Marie is not just one town but two. This unique and interesting location is actually two communities of the same name, one on the United States side of the river and the other on the Canadian side. An international bridge connects the towns and is a fully manned border crossing. Visitors from either side should be ready with their passports if they wish to cross the border and visit both countries.

The area has a long and interesting history. Archaeologists have found substantial evidence of human habitation going back many hundreds of years. The river provided a plentiful source of fish for a year round food supply. The rapids that run through the area make the waters particularly good and a host of marine life is still found. There are still many people making their living from the river.

In today's busy commercial world there are some excellent employment opportunities. Many young professionals are moving in. They are drawn by the chance to own their own home, enjoy a great lifestyle and spend time outdoors all year round.
