Transforming Your Interior Photography To A Work Of Art

By Gaylord Seliski

Working as a Singapore interior photographer can be a tricky profession but with the challenges also come the lucrative perks. Interior photography is also known as architectural photography and it is here that you get to take photos of indoor locations. Your lens will be focusing more on the different rooms or places inside a building and it will be up to you to make sure that the resulting images are stunning.

When it comes to interior photography, you will usually be working with a limited space and therefore you need to make sure you are properly equipped with the right tools for the job. Most photographers use a wide-angle lens to capture a wider area. An important factor with interior photography is the quality of light that you use because it will determine the quality of your exposure.

By shooting indoors, you will most commonly be working with natural light and this might not always allow you to shoot using high shutter speeds, so therefore having a tripod is necessary to make sure that your images will be sharp while using low shutter speeds. You can also use reflectors to illuminate areas of the room that receive less light.

Some situations might also require using strobe lights to add more illumination to specific areas in the room. Using strobes may allow you to use faster shutter speeds, but you have to be careful that to soften the harsh light by using umbrellas or reflectors. Flash photography involves a little more work and a Singapore interior photographer will often opt to use natural lighting as much as possible.

A good Singapore interior photographer should also be able to come up with great compositions with the room that is getting photographed. You should determine in advance the parts of the room that can be very interesting, especially when it is not possible to capture the room as a whole. You should also look for possible foreground and background objects that can improve the look of your photos.

One important characteristic that any Singapore interior photographer must have is creativity. You should feel free to work with different angles and heights, shoot in portrait and landscape modes, and make use of various objects to frame the room or any of your subjects. Coming up with your own shooting style can also help in improving your craft.

Before you take pictures of any room, it is a good idea to get rid of any clutter that can create a distasteful look on the images. Ideally, you want a room to always look as if no one is using it yet and so you should remove unnecessary objects that could be distracting on the photo. Just like when shooting models, rooms need to be prepped up before the shoot.

A good Singapore interior photographer should be able to come up with unique ways to capture the personality and character of a particular room. All photos are supposed to tell a story and interiors are no different. You can always look for interesting patterns or details that will help bring out the true beauty of it.
